Palestinian Cleft Society (PCS) Summer Internship Program

The PCS summer internship is an opportunity for college students to engage in global health in a direct way. PCS is composed of an interdisciplinary team of healthcare providers serving throughout the West Bank, with multiple supporting professionals in the United States and Canada. Together the team works with families of patients with congenital anomalies in order to meet the healthcare challenges of these children.  Summer interns will work closely with Palestinian healthcare providers, children with congenital anomalies and their families. Interns will gain practical work experience by supporting the communication operations at the PCS Center in Ramallah, Palestine. Interns will also participate in important public health research by developing the PCS congenital anomalies database.

Meet our 2012 summer interns!

Muna Aghaalnemer

My name is Muna Aghaalnemer, a Junior Biology major and Computer Science minor at Bryn Mawr College. I was born and raised in Nablus, Palestine. The youngest of two boys and a girl. I have always been passionate about people around me and have always wanted to be able to help out and contribute to what is around me in the best ways that I can. I developed an appreciation for languages and cultures through various experiences in life. I love to travel and to learn about the different life styles of people. I also love technology and how applicable it is to every aspect of our lives. I love going on long walks and runs outside and I usually have my camera on me and end up doing some photography as it is one of my hobbies. I aim and aspire to make a difference in the world, and I work on being the change I want to see.

Sarah Zamamiri

Sarah Zamamiri

My name is Sarah Zamamiri, a Palestinian-American, and I am a sophomore at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I am pursuing a Bachelors of Science in Psychology, with a minor in Arabic and Music. From a very early age, I realized that I enjoyed helping people, whether they were loved ones or complete strangers. My passion for serving others motivates me to do the good others would want to be reciprocated. I seize any chance I have in the day to go for a run. I also love playing my violin. I’ve played since I was a child and I love it even more now. I strive to be the best I can be and to let no one ever come to me without leaving better and happier.
