You Can Make a Difference – Donate to the Baby Adam Fund Today!
Adam Paulraj was born in India with a condition called Bartsocas-Papas Syndrome. This genetic syndrome causes severe craniofacial, limb, and genital abnormalities.
Due to your generous support, Baby Adam has already undergone successful left eye corneal transplantation, and reconstruction of his upper and lower eyelids. He is currently doing very well.
You too can help Baby Adam receive the care he needs!

Reflections of gratitude
Baby Adam has continued to amaze each of us as we witness all the progress he has made. It has certainly been a period of intensity for him, his family, and medical providers, but we look back in disbelief at how beautifully it has all unfolded.
We initially shared with you, in November, about a need for $100,000 in a one-week period. Our goal has been far surpassed! We reached that goal within that week, but we have also raised an additional $70,000! The Baby Adam Fund continues to grow daily with our current total of $170,000.
Where is Baby Adam today?
Adam is doing well after several surgeries: on November 29, December 16, 2011 and again on January 11, 2012. During this time, Adam has undergone feeding tube placement, creation of a colostomy and mucus fistula, cystoscopy, corneal shield placement and tarrasoraphies, corneal transplant, and eyelid reconstruction with skin grafting. Adam is preparing for his next surgery.
On February 14, 2012, Adam will be operated on by Dr. Richard Henderson (Pediatric Orthopedics), Jonathan Dutton (Opthalmology), Richard Davis (Corneal specialist), and John van Aalst (Pediatric Craniofacial Surgery). The surgeries that Adam needs are definitive separation of his feet, examination of the previous corneal transplant, revision of his eyelid reconstruction, and cleft lip repair.
How can I help?
Adam has multiple staged surgeries ahead of him. The surgeries include reconstruction of his nose and palate (the roof of his mouth). He will need on-going reassessment of the eyelid surgery and corneal transplantation. He will eventually need lower extremity prostheses to walk and possible surgery on his hands.
Pediatric surgeons at the University of North Carolina Children’s Hospital look forward to continuing our care for Adam.
Thank you for all the support you have provided thus far. We look forward to having you continue with us on this journey!
